Basics of Marriage
Marriage is an intimate union between two human beings marked by a formal rite called wedding. The ceremony joins the two individuals in matrimony and changes the status of the two contracting parties in the perspective of civil law and that of society. The institutions of marriage through a legal and binding contract have government and societal sanctions, with religious recognition for most cases. It creates obligations between the two individuals. Once established the couples’ actions are governed by the marriage laws of the land.
Customs and traditions of marriage may vary in some societies. It may take many forms such monogamy or polygamy. Monogamy is an exclusive union between husband and wife. On the other hand, polygamy is allows the person to be united in marriage with more than one spouse. This form is common among our Muslim brethren.
The Right Reason
The reasons for marriage vary from person to person. In some societies arranged marriage still take place despite the occurrence of global modernization and emancipation. It is done when a people other than the two contracting parties decide for the marriage. The authority may reside on the parents, religious figure, or a consensus among members of the community. To some extent, a matchmaker may actually be hired to look for a suitable spouse for the unmarried candidate. Examples of popular reasons for a pragmatic marriage are dowry, political gain, or increase in business influence.
In my opinion, marriage should be brought about by love one feels for the other. Before deciding to tie the knot, all things must be taken in consideration. How well prepared the couple are in facing their obligations and responsibilities to each other and for the future children as a result of the being together. Emotional maturity must be ascertained in order to avoid failure in the marriage. The financial capability must also be considered since this is often a problem and causes crisis in the family. The decision to get married must be gone through for countless of times. Sometimes, logic flees the mind when one is overwhelmed by the feelings and emotions and forgets the other aspects.

For marriage to work, honesty and understanding are salient factors as well other than love. Both parties will be in for the haul.
